HAPT Golf
Privacy policy

What we collect, and why.

Written against what this site actually does today. If a practice is not described here, we are not doing it.

Last updated August 3, 2026

01Who is responsible

HAPT Golf is operated by HAPT Lab, LLC (合同会社HAPT Lab), based in Tokyo, Japan. We are the personal information handling business operator for the purposes of Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and we are responsible for the data described below.

Questions about this policy, or any request under clause 07, go to golf@haptlab.com. Our full registered address and telephone number are provided without delay on request, by email.

02What we collect

Only two things, and only one of them is something you type.

Enquiry details
Your name, email address, and — if you choose to give them — your company, the topic, the product you are asking about, and your message. Every field beyond name, email and message is optional.
Usage data
Standard analytics: pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and how you arrived. This is collected in aggregate and is not used to identify you.

We do not take payment details. Nothing on this site is purchasable yet, and when it is, card data will be handled entirely by the payment processor — it will not pass through or rest on our servers.

03Why we collect it

Under the APPI we must state our purpose of use, and we are limited to it. Ours is narrow:

  • To read and reply to your enquiry.
  • To send you a copy of what you submitted, so you have a record of it.
  • To understand which pages people read, so we can write better ones.
  • To detect and block automated abuse of the contact form.

We do not use your details for marketing unless you separately ask to be on the notify list, and we do not sell or rent them to anyone, ever.

04Who else sees it

We use a small number of outside services to run the site. Each one receives only what it needs, and each processes it on our behalf.

Resend
Delivers the enquiry to us and the confirmation to you. Receives everything you submitted.
Slack
Where enquiries reach us internally. Receives everything you submitted.
Google Analytics
Usage data only. Never receives your name, email or message.
Google reCAPTCHA
Checks that the form was submitted by a person. Receives technical signals and your IP address — not the content of your message.
Cloudflare
Hosts and serves the site. Handles your request in transit and logs it for security purposes.

These providers operate servers outside Japan, including in the United States. Submitting the form therefore involves a transfer of your data abroad, which the APPI treats as a provision to a third party in a foreign country. We rely on each provider’s own contractual safeguards for that transfer.

We will also disclose information where a law, a court, or a regulator requires it — and, if that ever happens, we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.

05Cookies and similar technology

The site sets no cookies of its own for tracking. Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA set their own; Analytics identifies a returning browser, and reCAPTCHA distinguishes a person from a script.

Both can be blocked in your browser, and the site works normally without them. Blocking reCAPTCHA does not stop you contacting us — the form still submits, and the address in clause 01 always works.

Your country and currency selection in the footer is not stored. It is held only in the page you are looking at and is forgotten when you leave.

06How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as the conversation is useful and for up to two years afterwards, in case you come back to a thread. Beyond that they are deleted. Analytics data expires on Google’s own retention schedule, which is 14 months by default.

07Your rights

Under the APPI you may ask us to:

  • Tell you what we hold about you, and disclose it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it, or stop using it.
  • Stop providing it to a third party.

Write to golf@haptlab.com. We answer in Japanese or English, and we will respond within a reasonable period — in practice, a few working days. We may need to confirm your identity first, which for an emailed enquiry usually means writing from the address you originally used.

If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you may complain to the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan.

08Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will delete them.

09Changes

When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will say so here rather than relying on you to notice.
